Truly though, it depends on how the stain happened. If it they accidentally dropped some food on themselves when eating, no big deal, we all do it. However, at 5, 7, and 12 I do except my kids to have some common sense and manners when eating. Likewise if they get some paint or dirt on a play shirt or art smock, who cares! I strip and wash my son's clothes when he gets them dirty, because I know I may not be able to replace them soon and I don't want him looking ragged. I just add a drop of stain remover to the wash or soak it. I always bring an extra shirt for her when we go out, if she makes a huge mess, i can change her shirt.
