Why do some parents get all worked up over stains on their kids’ clothing?
I mean they’re kids! What’s the big deal?
if they don’t want to spoil an expensive outfit they shouldn’t be buying their kids those.
yea sure its not nice to have a dirty shirt but they shouldn’t make a big deal out of it.. and in public!
I’ve seen it a couple times. To the point they get mad at the kids and they are scared to tell you when they split some juice.
I don’t care.
The $50 dress I got the little one for Christmas, I know it won’t make it to the end of the night.
Whatever. It’s not like they will be wearing the clothes for long.
Some look at it like money going down the drain.
I don’t care if they wear a shirt with a stain on it as long as they are wearing a shirt.
They have a few things for special occasions, but it’s part of having children.

I’ve never seen _any_ parent do this for anything except an extremely expensive outfit for a very special occasion.

no doubt, I’ve wondered about this perfectionism my entire life. Why get so hyper over discoloration? It’s a form of obsessive compulsive disorder.

maybe they are sick of the never ending mountain of washing they seem to be doing day in day out, and seeing a filthy t-shirt which they have just washed will tick them off.

I get what you mean. when they are like 0-7 they are going to get stains. Especially the boys. They like to play in the dirt and mud for some reason. lol. When they are a little older, they should learn to be a bit more responsible.

Because they look dirty even if they are clean. If we spend money on nice clothes it sucks to have them ruined by carelessness. We have some pride, we don’t want our kids looking like no one cares for them, so a stain means the clothes are garbage!
That is why I never spent a lot of money on regular clothes (just one or two special outfits for parties/celebrations). I also preferred jeans and dark colours to hide stains.

Because some parents spend $50 on Gap tops (other over priced store are available), instead of getting tops for $2 from a charity shop!
If a $50 tops has to get thrown in the trash, that’s a real waste of money!
I work in daycare, this happens a lot.
It bugs me so much when the children come in their Sunday Best, and then their parents get mad at them for having fun and getting a bit wet of paint on them!

Since I am one of those parents…I just feel that by age 10 one should be able to eat without half your eats ending up on your shirt or pants…..bad habits carry onto adulthood…and mustard is TOUGH to get out…

I don’t get work up when my kid spills ice cream on her shirt, however, I would like to keep my kid reasonably clean if i can. I always bring an extra shirt for her when we go out, if she makes a huge mess, i can change her shirt. I know they are kids and mean to be messy, but sometimes when i see kids who have chocolate all over their hand, face, mouth, hair and clothing, and their mom doesn’t seems to mind, which kinda make me uncomfortable.

I honestly dont get worked up about stains. I just add a drop of stain remover to the wash or soak it.
I would only get annoyed if the clothes were high price but most of my kids stuff is just normal everyday stuff.

I have gotten worked up about stains a few times. Like last year, on School Picture Day of course I dressed my daughters up. They chose that day to do finger printing ID’s at school.
There was no getting that black and blue ink out of their tops.

I do because I want my son to look nice and have nice clothes. Clothes can be resold for extra money, but not if they have stains all over them. Then they are no longer recyclable. And on top of that, where is he going to be able to go wearing clothes that have stains on them? He will only be able to either play in them, sleep in them at home, not go out in them. Then that limits his wardrobe.

if it is old play clothes i don’t mind but my son is in preschool and it seems like he is always staining his outfits. my son has lots of nice clothing that i am scared to let him wear to school. he gets paint all over them even on the back of the clothes which means other kids are actually painting on him. it is just frustrating that i now send my kid to school in clothes that are already stained just so he doesn’t ruin his nice clothes. i am a firm believer that your child should look nice he/she represents how you parent them.

They spent too much money on the outfit in the first place.

maybe because they can’t afford to buy new ones? I strip and wash my son’s clothes when he gets them dirty, because I know I may not be able to replace them soon and I don’t want him looking ragged.
I don’t get mad at him, I just take them off and put them in the wash.

Because some of us don’t want our kids to look like vagabonds and are not made out of money. Truly though, it depends on how the stain happened. If it they accidentally dropped some food on themselves when eating, no big deal, we all do it. However, at 5, 7, and 12 I do except my kids to have some common sense and manners when eating. Likewise if they get some paint or dirt on a play shirt or art smock, who cares! However, if they decide to paint or play in their school clothes, you can bet I am not going to be happy.
