How much designer clothing is okay for a teen?

I know a young teen who owns a pair of true religions, a pair of sevens, a pair of joe’s jeans, a juicy jacket, several pairs of ugg boots, several north face coats and lots of lacoste, ralph lauren, and abercrombie kids clothing. Is this too much for a kid?

No, if she can afford it, treats it well, and it’s age appropriate, I don’t see the problem. I owned nice things when I was a teen and it was better than wearing stuff from forever 21 (not that’s there anything wrong with f21, but I think given the choice everyone would choose nicer stuff).

I have been to several poor countries where I have had children sleeping on the street outside my hotel. Can I morally justify spending money on brand name clothing simply to enhance my own social standing? Obviously not. However, most human beings are not able to do as Mother Theresa, though that would be the morally right thing to do. The added complication as a teen is that you are spending your parents’ money (my apologies if you are not). Even if your parents are rich, it is important to remember that it is something they have achieved, your life is still in front of you. The next time you decide to buy a pair of $200 UGGs instead of a $60 pair of Bearpaw, think of how that $140 could have been spent differently.
