I am 4 months pregnant and cannot afford to buy any maternity clothing-my husband just doesn’t see a need for it and he controls all the money. Does anyone know of a way if there is one I can alter my existing pants? I have a string tied around the button and the button hole to keep them on but this is so painful. Any ideas?

No offense, but your husband sounds like an idiot.
You need a good bra. You can get a nursing one and wear it now, but you NEED a good bra. And if you’re nursing, you’ll need a bunch of good bras because they’ll be sweaty and milky and a total mess a lot of the early time.

You will also need at least a few maternity shirts and a few pairs of pants. There is NO WAY I could have made it throughout my pregnancies in my non-maternity clothes.

You could try a Bella Band. It’s a variation on the rubberband through the buttonhole trick, but a lot more comfy and way better looking. (It’s basically a giant elastic waistband that holds up your unbuttoned pants.)

You can also go on FreeCycle for your city and see if anyone’s giving away maternity clothes. Here in St. Paul, MN, I see stuff like that posted every day. Or Goodwill always has a few things…

I’m a new collector; a lot of the new clothing is adorable, but I remember the clothes from when I was younger, too – they were so cute! I would like to be able to have a part of my childhood. I know I can look on ebay, and I am. Any other suggestions?

Look through the american girl catalogs they still have bitty babys but i don’t know how old the clothing is.

etsy.com has cute home-made clothes from private artisans. The maker sets the price so some of them are cheap and they are beautiful unique clothes.

I’m planning to go to Macy’s, and definitely 5th Avenue & Soho
Any other must-see places? Or any specific stores on 5th or Soho?
Is there any like good places for bargains on designer wear?
And I’m not interested in Chinatown, as I’ve been there plenty of times.

My parents don’t support the hip hop culture and many times that means not being able to buy some of the cutest clothing from rapper’s brands. Im not just stuck on "urban" wear because i do wear abercrombie and polo etc. I just would like to know what other options i have.

Do you fold or hang your babies clothing. We fold his onsies, pants and shorts. We hang his sleep n plays and other outfits.

I do the exact same thing as you. I am surprised I have the patience for hanging those things though, I don’t hang any of my clothes I have bins for his onesies, pants, shorts, socks, and hats and all that too. I wish I had a bigger dresser for him so I wouldn’t have to hang anything. it’s hard working those little clothes around those little hangers!

Like in south america where many kids dont have clothes or shoes, what can happen, health wise?

The health problems are many, because these children are also in contact with poisonous spiders such as the pink toed Tarantula and the black widow.there are also poisonous reptiles or deadly reptiles such as the salt water crocodile,the poison dart frog, anaconda,cobras. the diseases are ammonia,starvation,abuse,etc. Also they can come in contact with Spider monkeys,Chimpanzees,Gorillas,or Baboons they will get eaten or attacked or killed.On animal planet there was a girl with Down Symdrone that was bitten very badly by a spider monkey that escaped from it’s cage at a zoo in Guatemala,and Gorillas have been know to kill and mate with humans same with Chimpanzees.
